IsAboutQATA'S Professional Journal
QATA is producing a small professional Journal in addition to the four information bulletins published each year.
The Journal will feature articles by leading art educationalists that have been featured during the year at many of the professional development events.
The Journal will be posted to all schools as a free issue and it is hoped that many teachers who have not joined their professional association will see the benefit in becoming a member.QATA sends Art Materials to Timor Leste.
On July 3 a pallet of second hand Art books and donated Art materials arrived in Dilli on the Arafura Endeavour.
"This project to provide Art materials and Art books to Timor-Leste has been in the works for nearly 3 years. It was only with the aide of the wife of the former President that it has been progressed to this point.
Kirsty Sword Gusmao has put us in touch with the Alola Foundation and they gave a contact point in Dilli.
The Arte Moris Free Art School has been working in Dilli since 2003. They are currently extending their teaching to Baucau and these materials will be gratefully received.
The project is being managed through the Queensland Art Teachers Association who has also donated towards the cost of transportation along with an unnamed benefactor.
The project started through my work as World Councillor, International Society for Education Through Art; South East Asia Pacific Region after hearing of the very limited resources available in Timor Leste . This became apparent at the 2004 Annual Conference of Art Education Australia entitled “Migrating Australian Art education” that QATA hosted on the Gold Coast
Thank you to all who have assisted."
